Author Visit: Zanni Louise Inspires Stage 3
Yesterday, Chatswood Public School had the pleasure of welcoming acclaimed author Zanni Louise, who has been writing for over 11 years. She spoke to our Stage 3 students in the school hall, captivating them with her passion for storytelling and the power of writing.
During her engaging presentation, Zanni demonstrated how to transform a simple, boring sentence into one worthy of a novel, involving the students in the creative process. She emphasised the importance of perseverance as an author, encouraging patience, dedication, and writing as much as possible before “pruning the story tree” to refine the work.
Zanni also highlighted the value of being observant and engaged with the world around us as a rich source of inspiration for stories. Together with the students, she created a character, sparking their imagination and creativity.
To wrap up, Zanni treated the students to a lively rendition of Errol, her most famous picture book, with one of the students acting out the story, a fun and memorable conclusion to an inspiring visit.
Next week, Stage 2 students will have the chance to meet Andrew McDonald, author of the popular Real Pigeons graphic novel series. We look forward to another exciting author visit!
