Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell & Dave Fraser

X-Country Ski Program

Fresh snow falls provided a positive start to our X-Country Skiing Program this week.

While weather conditions were challenging, students' spirits were high. Their resilience to thrive despite learning new skills in a difficult environment impressed parents, staff and instructors. Well done to everyone involved!

Proposed Industrial Action

There is a possibility of further industrial action that may effect our school. We will advise of any changes to supervision as soon as we can.

Victorian public school teachers, principals, and education support staff represented by the Australian Education Union are currently voting on a revised government pay and funding offer. If rejected, members will proceed with a planned 24-hour state-wide stop-work strike on Wednesday, 19 August 2026.

3/4 French Performance

On Tuesday, Naomi's Year 3/4 French class performed a short play, La Petite Poule Rouge, for our junior classes.

The play was performed in French and translated by narrators. Congratulations to all students on their role in the performance.  Your courage and confidence to perform for an audience in a language other than English was admirable!  Well done!

Parent / Carer Survey

From Monday, parents and carers will have the opportunity to participate in the annual Parent/Carer survey.  This survey helps inform our planning and we encourage all families to participate.  Information about how to access the survey will be provided next week, via Compass.

Principals' Day

We were both surprised and flattered to receive some beautiful student artwork and a card at Monday morning's assembly to celebrate Principal's Day. Mount Beauty Primary School is a wonderful school to work at and community to be a part of. We appreciate the integrity and commitment of the staff, the positivity and kindness of the students and the care and support of families every day. Thank you to everyone for your contribution towards making our school a place where children thrive and adults love to work.

Kitchen Garden

This week's tasty lunchtime special of leek, potato and bacon soup was prepared and served up by students from Years 4 & 5, and provided the perfect lunch for a cold winter's day.  Many thanks to everyone who placed an order and to Kathryn and students for their time and preparation.

Webinar presented by 'School Can't Australia'

Next Wednesday evening, Alpine Valleys Autism Community (AVAC) are hosting a free online webinar that may be valuable to some families in our school community.

The session will feature a guest presentation from School Can’t Australia, exploring school stressors, barriers to attendance, and some of the challenges families can face when advocating for their Autistic young person.

The webinar is open to any carer or supporter living in the Alpine Shire who supports an Autistic young person, or a young person they suspect may be Autistic. No formal diagnosis is required, and families do not need to have any prior connection with AVAC to attend. You can register for the session by clicking here. Tickets are strictly limited, so families are encouraged to RSVP early.
