John XXIII Rowing Club

Dear Rowing Families

We are entering the last three weeks of our competitive season which sees our rowers compete in the Allschools Regatta #3 this Saturday and the Allschools State Championships on Saturday, 9 August.

Given the regatta this weekend, we offered training during the holidays which was very well attended, demonstrating how dedicated our rowers and coaches are. Please speak to your coaches about your training requirements over the next three weeks, aim to keep on top of your study, and get plenty of sleep and recovery time in the lead up to the Championship regatta.

The JTCRC also undertook its first Rowing Tour to Queensland in the holidays, with a dedicated group of 15 rowers training for the week in Brisbane and then competing at the South East Queensland All Schools Championships over the weekend. A huge thank you to Jimmy O’Regan, Lauren Strong and Xavier Mitchell for giving up their holidays to support our rowers.

All Schools Regatta 3 – Saturday, July 26

The run sheet for this event has been uploaded to the Stack App in Documents. Please message Lauren, Jimmy or me if there are any concerns.

All Schools Championship Regatta – Saturday, 9 August

Due to increased entry numbers, there will be no finals this year. Times will be recorded for each heat, with the fastest overall time across all heats determining the winner. While this format isn't ideal, it is the only way to complete the regatta in a single day.

Entries are due earlier than usual so Rowing WA can place the fastest crews in the same heats where possible. Please confirm your attendance this weekend using the link that will be sent via Stack.

Please contact me at: claire.woolfitt@johnxxiii.edu.au if you have any queries.

Uniforms

The new zootsuit is now in stock at the Uniform Shop. There is also a training top which can be worn under the zootsuit. The only compulsory item is the zootsuit for racing at regattas. There is stock of the old Zootsuit which can be worn. Year 8 students can wear their PE uniform to the race and are not required to purchase a zootsuit.

Stack Team App

Please download the Stack Team App if you have not already done so. This app is one of our main avenues for communication with rowers and their parents. This is the central place for training schedules, training updates, and rowers can contact their coach in case of illness or injury and missed trainings. It is important that all rowers and parents have access.

To get this app please go to the App Store or Google Play and download Stack Team App onto your mobile device, then follow these simple steps:

  1. Sign-up to Stack Team App. You’ll be sent an email to confirm your registration.
  2. Log-in and search for JTCRC, then request to become a member.
