Well, what can we say!! What a busy start we have had to this term. The students have settled in very well from the holidays and they were all eager to share all the fun things that they did.
As we begin our learning of from farm to table, the Prep students adventured off to Animal Land Farm. What a fun filled day this was. From holding baby rabbits (which we found our were called kittens) chicks, guinea pigs, milking Ellie the cow, churning butter, pony rides with Micky the pony, feeding ducks, sheep, alpacas and also some naughty goats that had escaped. The tractor ride was especially fun when the naughty goat starting chasing after the tractor. The students were amazing, had so much fun and learnt lots about animals, farming and how we get some of our food.
The Prep students also celebrated their 100th day of Prep. They all looked so proud wearing their 100th day of Prep Tshirt which they had made at home with their families. We thread 100 Frooty Rings on a necklace, ate some fairy bread, made paper crowns and then presented assembly to our families and the rest of the school. What a wonderful and special achievement!
The 5/6 Students had an amazing time at Mount Buller in Week 1.
Day 1: We left cold Melbourne for even colder Mount Buller. It was stormy and wet and we had to unfortunatly cancel our ski lessons due to lightning stricks, however the students were resilient and still enjoyed all the camp had to offer.
Day 2: The rain had stopped and a lovely blanket of snow fell overnight and the students were ready for their lessons. Carrying skis and walking in the thick snow was challenging but we made it to our small group lessons. They learnt to stand, slide and stop on their skis. Students were able to practice and perfect their skiing on the small slopes, then some were able to go on the chair lift and ski down the mountain with Miss Mathewson, Nick and Mark. We finished the day with snowball fights and building snowmen and angels.
Day 3: The day ended with a beautiful sunny morning. The students made the most of their final time in the snow, playing on the taboggan and enjoying the beauty of Mount Buller before our departure back to school.
We would like to thank all students for their hard work and great behaviour while on camp. At times it was challenging and we had to make quick changes throughout the camp. The students were resilient and supportive of one another and made some amazing memories.
We would like to thank Mr Stead, Miss Librizzi, Miss Mathewson, Mr Manoler and Mr Pearce for attending camp with us. Guiding the students and even getting on the slopes!!
Finally, a big thank you to Nick and Mark for all their assistance and expertise on the mountain. Taking time out of their busy work schedule to be with us was greatly appreciated.
What an amazing start to Term 3!

IN the last fortnight of term 2 we reviewed our plans for the garden. Thank you to the parent committee who have generously provided much needed funds for plants. We are so greatful for your support and encouragement. To confirm our purchasing of fruit trees and plants, Year 5/6 took a walk around the garden to consider the elements that affect our garden such as protection from wind and sun, overhanging trees, watering available or to be installed and additional features we will be implementing. One of those features is our scarecrow, which is still a work in prgoress. Please admire the creativity and thought behind the students plans for the garden layout.
A big thank you to Ms Mazzeo for winning a grant for us, which will further enhance the learning space. Part of this grant is a large wooden gazebo and BBQ. This will look amazing alongside our brand new wood fired pizza oven that is still stored in the sports shed. The introduction of an outdoor cooking kitchen, will not only support garden kitchen experiences but also be available for fund raisers and whole school special celebration days . Please keep an eye out in future newsletters to see the garden development.
This term we start with a new herb garden, and some fruit trees. We now have a lemon tree, strawberry guava and blueberry bush, as well as rosemary, oregano, thyme, sage, parsley and mint. The garden will continue to change as we head towards Spring, and our seedlings take off.
Mindfulness
After lunch each day we head back into our clasrooms and begin mindfulness. Mindfulness is a short activity, whereby students participate in either watching a relaxing meditation video or a class activity that encourages breathing, quiteness and connecting before we return to our next session of learning. Some videos we utilise in 1/2 are belly breathing, bubbles and rainbow breathing. Please ask you child about their experiences with mindfulness and how they feel after they participate in these.
Team work in 1/2RS
In our clasroom we have been working in small groups for literacy, numeracy and respectful relationships. Board games are a great way of suporting young children with social skills to work with others, have patience and use kind words. Its still a work in progress:)
We are absolutely thrilled to share that our school has recently made a BIG purchase of brand-new Sunshine decodable books! These high-quality, engaging texts are a fantastic addition to our reading program and will support our students as they build strong phonics and decoding skills.
This exciting boost to our classroom libraries wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support of our amazing Parents & Friends Committee. Your contribution of $2500 (with the school funding the rest of the cost) has made a real difference, helping to provide resources that will benefit all of our young readers for years to come. We now have just over 400 new decodables!!!
A huge THANK YOU from all of us – students and staff alike – for your ongoing dedication and commitment to our school community. 💛📖✨
Happy reading!
