Visual Arts News

Our Year 3 students are working on making artworks representing their personal journey from home to school. They are using symbols to represent landmarks and features they see along their way each morning and afternoon. Symbols can be universal or personal and help artists to communicate with an audience. Understanding symbols is a key component of visual literacy and helps us make sense of our world. Students also learned about 'artistic licence' and how artists are not restricted to realistic depictions of their subject matter. Artists can alter reality to make their artworks more visually interesting!

Their Journey artworks will be exhibited in the main playground later on in the term.

Students are encouraged to develop their creativity skills at home and are invited to make artworks for possible inclusion in network and community art competitions:

Science Week

Dear Parents

This week at St Francis Xavier, we celebrated National Science Week with an exciting Science-a-viva incursion!

All our students had the opportunity to take part in hands-on experiments exploring a variety of fascinating scientific topics, including forces, energy, light, and so much more. The curiosity, wonder, and excitement in the room showed just how much our students enjoyed discovering the world through science!
