Curriculum Day – Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0

On our recent curriculum day, our dedicated teaching and support staff came together to begin learning about the new Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0 (VTLM 2.0), which will be implemented in all Victorian Government schools by 2027. We’ve developed a staged implementation plan, with 2025 as a year of familiarisation, 2026 focused on exploration, and full implementation in 2027. The VTLM 2.0 aligns strongly with how our students learn and supports our existing teaching approaches, grounded in the Victorian Curriculum and the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program. We look forward to sharing more information with families as we progress through each phase of the implementation. We have included a flyer in today’s newsletter which has been created for parents by the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership in partnership with Parents Victoria. This is a useful guide to provide you with an understanding of the VTLM 2.0.

Science Week

We are looking forward to celebrating Science Week at our special open morning on Wednesday 13 August. Families are invited to visit classrooms to celebrate our students’ curiosity and learning from 9am until 10am and hope to see many of you there.

Change of Date- Book Week Assembly Monday 18 August

Book Week is one of our favourite celebrations and we will be holding our special Book Week Assembly on Monday 18 August. Students are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite book character and join us for our special assembly to celebrate the joy of reading.

Assembly times:

9:15am Prep - Year 2 (Junior)

2:45pm Year 3 - 6 (Senior)

Parents are most welcome to attend the assembly.

Pedestrian Safety

The safety of our students is always our top priority. We ask all families to use the designated pedestrian crossings on Gallaghers Road and Shepherd Road when walking to and from school.

Crossing outside of these areas models unsafe behaviour and puts both children and adults at risk. Please also ensure that you are following all road rules when driving near the school. Monash Council monitors traffic around our school regularly, and fines will be issued for any breaches.

More importantly, we want to prevent accidents and keep everyone safe. Please do the right thing for the safety of our students and community.
