LIBRARY NEWS

Get Ready to Read - Our Book Fair is Here!
Yesterday, the annual Book Fair began in the library, and we’ve already had excited students come in and buy new books and fun stationery. It’s been great to see families visit as well.
Your child will be bringing home a wishlist of all the fantastic finds that caught their eye. There's no pressure to buy anything; it's just a fun way for them to explore! To give you a sneak peek, we've included some photos of the book stands so you can see all the goodies on their list.
If you have any questions about the Book Fair, please don't hesitate to contact me at school or email invlibrary@arm.catholic.edu.au.
Book Fair opening times:
Before school (8.30 am - 8.50 am)
Snack Breaks (1.30 pm-1.50 pm Primary and 2 - 2.20 pm Secondary)
After school 3.20 pm - 4.00 pm
Students can also view and buy during their library lessons.
Eftpos is available.
The Book Fair concludes this Friday, August 1st, at 4:00 p.m.
A huge thank you for your incredible support. Every purchase helps us receive credit to buy even more exciting new books for all our students to enjoy in the library. Your support truly makes a difference!
Book Fair Helpers
One thing we all love here at Holy Trinity is when older classes have the opportunity to help younger students. Yesterday, 5F assisted KM and 1W in writing their wishlists, and they were a great help to us all. Thank you to Miss Fleming and the 5F team!
Reading Adventures: CBCA Books of the Year
This term, all classes are enjoying reading the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) Books of the Year shortlists. It's a great opportunity to discover some fantastic new stories before the winners are announced in Week 5!
Our K-2 students are currently exploring the Early Childhood Books of the Year. Last week, we shared "Don't Worry, Felix" by Yohann Devezy, Katherine Alice, and Zoe Bennett, as well as the thoughtful "A Leaf Called Greaf" by Kelly Canby. For students in Years 3-6, we're reading from both the Picture Book and Younger Readers categories.
This week, we're enjoying "How to Move a Zoo" by Kate Simpson, which shares the incredible true story of Jessie the elephant's relocation from Moore Park Zoo to the new Taronga Zoo in 1916. Older students are also appreciating the beautiful illustrations by Freya Blackwood in Kirli Saunders' "Afloat."
We're all looking forward to seeing which books receive top honours from the CBCA!
Premier’s Reading Challenge
Congratulations to the super readers who have completed the PRC over the last few weeks. With only a couple of months to go, if your child needs some extra books to finish, please let me know, and I'll be happy to help them. Please don’t forget to print their completed reading logs and send them to the library for validation.
Closing Date - Friday, 19 September 2025.
Well done, Freya and Isla! Great reading.
Fresh Finds on Our Shelves
We’ve just unpacked a wonderful collection of new books, now ready for borrowing and on display. We have a fantastic range for every kind of reader: captivating new titles for our secondary students, engaging chapter books for primary readers ready for their next adventure, a wide selection of fascinating new non-fiction books for those who love to learn, and vibrant picture books perfect for our youngest readers. Your next favourite story awaits!
A Gentle Reminder About Library Books
To ensure our library can continue to support all students, we kindly request your assistance in returning overdue books. Overdue notices will be sent home with students this week.
With our growing student numbers, it's especially important that all secondary students return their English textbooks. Unfortunately, due to the need to replace unreturned items, we will now begin to charge for lost textbooks. Today, all secondary students have received a paper list of any overdue items. We would greatly appreciate it if families could encourage students to find these books at home and return them to the library as soon as possible to avoid replacement charges. Thank you for your cooperation and support!
Happy reading,
Mrs Toni Fraser
