PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

A warm welcome back to all our students and families as we kick off Term 3! I hope you all had a restful break. It's wonderful to see our school community re-energised despite the cold weather and ready for another productive term.
This term, we're delighted to welcome some new faces to our staff. Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Chris Myers, who will be working across K-10 in PDHPE. We also welcome Kat Eshman and Beth Jackson as Educational Assistants, who will provide invaluable support to our students. From next week, we'll also be joined by Lisa Wilson, our new Music Teacher, who will undoubtedly bring her passion and expertise to our creative arts program.
We're also thrilled to welcome six new students to our school family: Hazem in Kindergarten, Dusty in Year 1, Harrison in Year 4, Darin in Year 7, Hamish in Year 8, and Indy in Year 9. We hope you all feel welcome and quickly settle into our school community.
This term offers several important opportunities for us to connect and collaborate on your child's learning journey. We'll be holding our Family Conferences to review Semester 1 reports, providing a valuable chance for you to discuss your child's progress with their teachers. For our K-6 families, these conferences will take place in Week 3, and for our Year 7-10 families, they will be in Week 5. More scheduling information will be sent out soon.
Coming soon, you'll receive an invitation to participate in our annual School Survey. This vital survey seeks feedback from students, staff, and, most importantly, our families. The survey will be emailed to you in the week beginning August 25th.
Your feedback is incredibly valued and plays a significant role in shaping our school's direction. It helps us identify what is working well and where we need to focus our time and energy to ensure the best possible learning environment for all our students. We truly appreciate as many families as possible contributing to this survey.
I look forward to seeing you at the many school events that will be held throughout Term 3. Let's make it a fantastic term together!
It was with great sadness that we heard of the death of Bob McGuire at the end of last term. Bob lived next door to the school, and he was the best neighbour a school could have. Bob was part of the Holy Trinity School family as a parent, grandparent, School Board member, member of the P and F and a volunteer. In 2013, Bob was honoured with a Spirit of Catholic Schools award for his volunteering. He was still working in our canteen up until last year at the ripe age of 83 years. Bob was a happy, cheerful and kind man who always had time for staff and students. His smile and willingness to have a chat will be greatly missed. We hope to honour is dedication to our school with a memorial tree.
Please come along to the Safe on Social/Ctrl+Shft presentation for parents and families on Monday 11 August at 5:30pm in the AV room. The families who attended last year raved about the information shared about how to keep our young people safe online.
Census
This Friday is our census day. We need to submit our student and staff numbers to the ACSO who in turn let the government know.
This process really kicks off our planning for 2026
Year 11 Subject Selection
Our Year 10 students have made their subject selections for 2026. Miss Bailey, Mr Baldwin and Mrs Briony Martin from Armidale Catholic Schools have been working towards finalising this process. In the coming weeks we will be holding meetings with the students and their families to discuss the pattern of study which we can offer.
Kindergarten interviews
We are currently half way through our Kinder interviews for 2026. If you still intend to enrol a child to start school next year please complete the enrolment form and return as soon as possible to Mrs Cathy Dyer. An appointment for an enrolment interview can then be made.
Year 6 to 7
This week a note will be going home with our Year 6 students regarding their transition to Year 7. Enrolment is continuous at HTS so we do not need any further enrolment forms. In planning for 2026 we do need to have accurate enrolment numbers for the purchasing of resources such as iPads as well as class organisation. If your child is not continuing into secondary at HTS please email me.
Parking around the school
Please remember not to park across our neighbours driveways and our neighbouring streets - Short and Mather St. A number of our neighbours have contacted us regarding this. Please help us be a good neighbour!
Payment for excursions
Please check Compass for the next instalment for our major excursions. Please contact me if you have any concerns.
School Uniform
All students are expected to be in full winter uniform until September 1st or the end of the term. Ties are to be worn.
Attendance
Attendance every day is important unless students are ill. It is a requirement that families explain absences in a timely manner. Please contact the school by phone, email or by lodging the explanation on Compass.
