From the Principal

Dear Parents,

Book Week : Friday 29th August

This year we celebrate The Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) Book Week 2025, with the theme "Book an Adventure," encouraging readers to embark on journeys through stories, exploring different lands, times, and characters.

On Friday, 29th August we invite all students to come to school dressed as their favourite book character.

Students will be participating in a whole school Book Week Parade.  The parade will be held in the Hall at 9.15am.

All parents are welcome to attend. We ask all parents to be seated in the Hall prior to 9.15am.

Senior Talent Show Review

Congratulations to all the wonderfully talented students who were brave enough to share their skills with our school community during the Senior Talent Show last week.  A special word of thanks to our Music Teacher, Fiona Marham, who not only organised and ran the two talent shows, but who also encourages and supports our students' talents so they can have their time to shine.  Enjoy the pictures below.

Student Achievment Congratulations!

Congratulations to our very own Rugby super star Jessie Silvester. Over the weekend she played, and won, her rugby Grand Final. Her team, The Harlequin's, beat the opposing team Power House, 15 to 12. It all came down to a last minute penalty in the Harlequin's favour, making them this years champions!! Congratulations Jessie. We knew you could do it and we're all so proud of you!.

Father’s Day Morning Tea

This year, we won’t be running the full Father’s Day Breakfast as we didn’t receive enough volunteers to make the larger event possible. A huge thank you to those who did put their hand up to help – your support is always appreciated.

Instead, we’d love to invite all dads to join us for a Father’s Day Morning Tea in the school hall on Friday, 5 September from 8:30am – 9:00am. It will be a simple but special way to celebrate, with tea, coffee and biscuits available to enjoy before the school day begins.

Afterwards, you are also welcome to join us for Mass at St Christopher's church from 9.15am to 10.15am.  Your child/children can sit with you if you wish.  Students will walk over with their class and meet you in the Church.  They will return to school with their class once Mass has finished.

While we know the breakfast has been a wonderful tradition in the past, we hope this smaller gathering will still give our dads a chance to connect.

Thank you again for your ongoing support – it’s through our community working together that these events can happen.

We look forward to seeing you there!

MACSSIS Family School Improvement Survey

In 2025, our school is participating in Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS). MACSSIS is an annual process whereby schools listen to the thoughts and feelings that students, families and staff have about how their school can improve. These surveys help inform the ongoing improvement of schools across the Archdiocese of Melbourne.

One of the main goals of the family survey is to identify the strengths and areas for improvement in our school. MACSSIS data benefits everyone within our school and provides valuable community insights on areas that each school can focus on. Our school believes it is important to encourage families to have a voice and contribute to shaping the ongoing improvement of the school.

The survey that is available online, can be accessed from Monday 1 September and needs to be completed by Friday 19 September 2025. This survey may only be completed once.

Participation is completely voluntary. There are no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ answers – all responses are completely anonymous and at no point are any of the responses from students, families or staff identifiable by the school.

The survey is available in English, Arabic, Assyrian, simplified and traditional Chinese, Dinka, Hakha Chin, Karen, Tagalog, Vietnamese and Zomi.

To complete the survey, please access the following link: www.orima.com.au/macsfamily.

In the search box under School Name, you must type our school’s name followed by the suburb before the portal will recognise and display the relevant school.

Your family’s personal identification number has been emailed to you this week. Please contact the school office if you do not receive your PIN.

If you have any feedback about the survey in relation to the questions and content, please contact Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) on macssis@macs.vic.edu.au.
