Author Visit: Beckie – Inspiring Young Minds Through Storytelling
We are excited to welcome Beckie, a respected and established children’s book author and illustrator, for a special visit with our students. With a rich background that spans mental health, early childhood education, and art therapy, Beckie brings a wealth of experience and heart to her storytelling. As a parent of three and a lifelong advocate for children's emotional well-being, she weaves her personal and professional life into stories that are both meaningful and magical.
Her work is known for its gentle and approachable style, helping children navigate challenging emotions through memorable rhymes and charming illustrations. Beckie uses her understanding of developmental trauma, art therapy, and counselling to connect deeply with young readers, helping them make sense of the world around them.
During her visit, Beckie will share three of her inspiring books:
Amazing Like You
A heartwarming story designed to build self-esteem and help children recognize their strengths. This book encourages young readers to believe in themselves and celebrate what makes them unique.
Bob, Anxiety and Me
Meet Bob, a supportive friend who helps children understand and manage anxiety. This story reassures readers that feeling scared is okay and reminds them that courage and bravery can shine even in moments of fear.
Friends, It Starts with Hello (Special Preview!)
Beckie’s newest book, launching on September 20th, will be shared as an exclusive preview with our students. It’s a sweet and relatable story about the power of a simple “hello” and how it can open the door to new friendships and connections.
We look forward to this inspiring session with Beckie and the opportunity for our students to explore important life lessons through the joy of storytelling.
