Junior School

Stephen Nelson, Head of Junior School

Welcome to Term Three

A warm welcome back to Term Three.  I trust you enjoyed the winter break and were able to spend some quality family time. Talking to students in classrooms and playgrounds this week, many families visited some wonderful locations. My family enjoyed a ‘staycation’  punctuated with lazy days to catch up, and day trips to Cape Bridgewater, Melbourne and Warrnambool. It was a relaxing break.

I took the opportunity to read. One of the books completed was Simon Sinek’s ‘Start With Why’. It was an interesting read, with a focus of organisations communicating and articulating their ‘why’ - their purpose, cause and beliefs before focusing on the ‘how’ and ‘what’. If this is done well, it allows connection with people on an emotional level and fosters a sense of belonging. I feel College’s ‘Our Purpose’ statement on our current strategic plan sums up well why we are here - ‘to nurture locally, so that our students can excel globally.’

In staffing news, Mrs Anne Kristin Christie will be taking leave this term,  from Week 3. Mrs Penny Byrne will cover classroom Music, Chamber Singers with Mrs Francine Bell and Pizzicato Strings with Mr Ben Singh.

We welcome five new students to the ELC/Junior School.
