Principal's Message

2025 School Theme - Why Team, Why Team Westbreen

Assistant Principal’s Message

 Dear Westbreen PS Families

Thank you to everyone for Week 2. The level of support amongst Team Westbreen is what makes us Team Westbreen!!

It was wonderful to receive positive feedback about our students displaying our school values in different settings. Please continue to promote this at home.

Acting Principal Update

At the time of completing this message, the Department of Education is still completing the appointment of an Acting Principal. Once this process has been completed and an appointment has been made, we will update the school community.

Our Foundation Students Turn 100!

During Term 3, our Foundation students will celebrate one hundred (100) school days at Westbreen PS. Tomorrow, the 6th of August, our Foundation students will celebrate this milestone during assembly and the Foundation classrooms will participate in activities linked to this milestone also on this day.

Being Late for School

Being late for school has a negative impact on your child’s learning. Being just 10 minutes late daily adds up to nearly an hour a week of lost learning.

Arriving late at school can also result in:

- disruption to the start of your child’s day, which often continues during the day

- embarrassment as students enter class late

- students are missing the vital morning instructions and daily information news

- disruption to the lesson for other students

- creating a bad habit that is difficult to break

- poor attendance.

When a student develops a pattern of consistent lateness, this often progresses to school avoidance.

Arriving at least 5 minutes before the first bell allows your child to interact with their peers and teachers and get themselves ready for their busy day. Being late for school has a negative impact on your child’s learning.

Attending School regularly and arriving on time helps prepare children for the real world, where they are expected to turn up to work every day and on time. Children will get sick and need to stay home occasionally. Always inform the school if your child is absent due to illness. If your child is anxious about going to school, please talk to your child’s teacher, as we are here to help.

Every Minute Counts!

Grade 5/6 Hoop Time

Wishing our Gr. 5/6 students all the absolute best on Thursday when they represent Team Westbreen at the Gr. 5/6 district Hoop Time Carnival.

I will be attending on the day and I’m looking forward to coaching some future ‘Boomers’ or ‘Opals.’

In my absence, Miss Kristy Monaghan and Miss Elisa Pannunzio will be overseeing school operations.

Book Week

It is nearly that time of year again when creativity and the wonderful world of books collide! Start thinking about and planning your book week costume for 2025. A whole school parade will be held on Friday 22nd August at 9:15am on our Basketball Courts. Families are most welcome to attend and join in the fun!
