Our Year Four children will be celebrating their First Eucharist this term. The Eucharist is

The Last Supper by Sieger Koder

like a special family meal where Jesus is truly present with us. Just as sharing a meal brings families closer, the Eucharist helps our Holy Cross families grow stronger in love and unity. When we receive the Eucharist, we become more like Jesus and are filled with His love, which helps us share that love with everyone around us.

Commitment Masses

In order to introduce the Communicants to the Parish family, and for them to formally acknowledge their commitment before the Parish community, all children are required to participate in one Mass of Commitment on the weekend of the 23rd and 24th August.

Families are asked to attend one of the following Masses:

  • 6.00pm on Saturday 23rd August at St. Brigid’s, Gisborne
  • 8.00am on Sunday 24th August at St. Ambrose,  Riddells Creek
  • 9.30am on Sunday 24th August at St. Patrick’s,  Macedon
  • 11.00am on Sunday 24th August at St. Brigid’s, Gisborne

Family Sacramental Evening

We warmly invite all parents and children preparing to receive the Sacrament of Eucharist to attend our Family Sacramental Evening.

This is an important part of the preparation journey, where you will be guided as a family to reflect on what Eucharist means for all of us today.  It is expected that at least one parent or guardian attends with their child.

When: Wednesday 27th August, at 6pm at the Holy Cross School Prayer Room.

Student Eucharist Reflection Day

On Monday 1st September the children will participate in a reflection day in preparation for their Sacrament. The day will be held at school during normal school hours. Part of the day will be facilitated by Michael McGirr from Caritas. Children will wear their full school uniform and pack lunch and snacks as usual.

First Eucharist Mass

Sunday 14th September, at 4:30pm at St Brigid’s Church Gisborne.
