Holy Cross C.A.R.E. Team
C – Care for our school environment
A – Assess what needs to be done
R – Repair and maintain
E – Enhance spaces for learning and play
This group will help build our working to-do list and begin sharing one-off tasks that need completing. The idea is simple: people can choose jobs that match their skills and availability, allowing us to work together and share the load in a way that benefits the whole school community.
Our first step is to assess what needs attention at Holy Cross. On Thursday 31st July, we’ll be doing a full walkthrough of the school, of both the grounds and buildings, to identify anything that requires maintenance, repair, or improvement.
We want to capture everything, big or small, so we’re looking for people who are observant and have a good eye for detail. This includes tradespeople such as plumbers, electricians, landscapers, painters, fencers, as well as anyone with experience in safety or a keen sense of presentation. The purpose of the day is to build a complete picture of what needs to be done so we can prioritise and take action.
After the walkthrough, we’ll establish a CARE Core Group to help develop and manage our ongoing to-do list. This group will also coordinate a list of one-off tasks and support the organisation of jobs for upcoming working bees. This way, people can choose tasks that suit their skills and availability, making it easier to share the load and get things done together. If you're a fan of a quality spreadsheet, the Core group is for you!
Join us as we take a close look and map all that needs to be done at Holy Cross.
A Little PEP Goes a Long Way!
PEP stands for Promotion, Engagement, and Presence, three key areas we focus on to help Holy Cross shine in our wider community.
- Promotion: We share news, stories, and events about our school through social media, newsletters, and other channels to celebrate our achievements and invite others to be part of our community.
- Engagement: We connect with families, students, and the broader community to build strong relationships and encourage involvement through events, activities, and feedback.
- Presence: We maintain and grow Holy Cross’s visibility online and offline, including our website and social media platforms, ensuring our school’s story reaches as many people as possible.
We’d love for you to bring your own PEP to our school community! Whether you enjoy marketing, writing, photography, organising events, or simply want to help, your skills and ideas are welcome.
If you’re interested, please get in touch with us and share your talents or areas you'd like to support. We’ll be hosting a relaxed brainstorming session soon to explore ideas and work together to help Holy Cross shine even brighter in coming weeks.
Join us, share your PEP, and help grow our amazing school community!
Love Music? Share Your Gift!
Live music brings something special to our school Masses and Sacramental celebrations. If you sing or play an instrument, we’d love to have you join us, even just once during the year makes a big difference.
Please contact Mrs Meyer directly if you're keen to get involved. principal@hcnewgisborne.catholic.edu.au
