From Mr Chaplin

We are thrilled to announce that our students have reached a wonderful milestone – 400 Values Tickets have been earned across the school! This achievement reflects the incredible commitment our students have shown in demonstrating our school values of Respect, Responsibility, Cooperation and Resilience in the classroom and in the yard.

To celebrate this fantastic effort, we will be holding a Free Dress Day on:

📅 Friday, 8 August

Students are invited to come to school in free dress on this day. Please ensure that clothing is sun smart and suitable for school activities, including appropriate footwear for play and PE.

This is a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the positive choices our students are making every day. We look forward to celebrating together as a school community!

Keep up the great work, everyone!

On Principal’s Day, I was reminded of something simple but important—that community is built not only through rules and routines, but through kindness and shared respect.

Thank you to the staff, students, and families of Cheltenham East for your warm wishes, the thoughtful morning tea, and especially the remarkable book filled with student contributions. It was honest, imaginative, and full of life. I read it with a sense of pride and quiet reflection.

Being responsible for this school is a serious task. It means making decisions that affect people. It means standing up for what is right, even when it’s difficult. It means listening more than speaking. I carry that responsibility every day, and I am grateful to be trusted with it.

Cheltenham East is a strong and thoughtful community. Days like these show that clearly. Thank you again.

At Cheltenham East Primary School, the safety and wellbeing of our students is our highest priority. We would like to take this opportunity to remind families of our duty of care obligations and the importance of ensuring students are appropriately supervised while on school grounds.

Before School Supervision

Staff supervision in the school yard begins at 8:40am each morning. Students should not arrive at school before this time unless they are booked into the Team Kids before school care program. Children who arrive earlier than 8:40am are not supervised, which presents a significant safety risk.

After School Supervision

After school, staff are on duty until 3:50pm. Students who are not collected by this time are considered unsupervised. To ensure their safety, students will be directed to wait at the front office until they are collected by a parent or guardian.

Students in the senior year levels who walk or ride home independently will be expected to leave the premises promptly after dismissal.

Key Points for Families to Note:

  • Students must not be on school grounds unsupervised before 8:40am or after 3:50pm.
  • If your child requires supervision outside of these times, please utilise the Team Kids before and after school care service.
  • Unsupervised students will be asked to wait in the office or, in the case of older students, leave the school grounds promptly.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students.

Save the date: Parent Teacher Interviews – Tuesday 9 September

Parent Teacher Interviews will be held on Tuesday 9 September from 1:00pm to 5:30pm. These 10-minute meetings provide a valuable opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, learning goals, and next steps as we move through the second half of the year.

Please note:

  • Interview times are strictly limited to 10 minutes to ensure all families have the opportunity to meet with their child’s teacher.
  • For students who are part of the Student Support Group (SSG) process, an SSG meeting will take the place of a regular interview. If this applies to your child, your classroom teacher will be in touch to arrange a time.

Sentral will open for bookings early next week. A Sentral notification will be sent once the system is live.

We encourage all families to book a time and take part in this important conversation about their child’s learning.

Regards,

Jared Chaplin
