DELE Escolar Exam
Infomation for year 6 families.
We are excited to announce that our Year 6 students will have the opportunity to participate in the DELE Escolar exam, an internationally recognised Spanish language qualification offered by the Instituto Cervantes.
This year, we are aiming to prepare students for the A2/B1 level, although we acknowledge that students have varying levels of Spanish proficiency. Final decisions regarding exam levels will be made in collaboration with the Year 5/6 Spanish teachers.
To support students in their preparation, before-school classes will commence in Week 4 of Term 3 and continue throughout the term, with planning for Term 4 still underway.
These sessions will be run by Luisa Plata, our school’s Spanish Leading teacher. The preparation program will include revision and past exam practice but will also involve students working through an Instituto Cervantes online course, which they will access both in class and at home.
The DELE Escolar exam will take place on Thursday, 21st November, with the exact location still to be confirmed. It may be held at RMIT or onsite at school. If the exam takes place offsite, students will be accompanied by a teacher. Participation in the exam is voluntary. As preparation classes will take place before school, there will be minimal disruption to students' regular learning. However, participating students may occasionally be withdrawn from class in the lead-up to the exam for specific support sessions such as oral or grammar practice.
To confirm your child’s participation, please return the signed consent form to the classroom teacher by Tuesday, 29th July. We look forward to supporting our students on this exciting learning journey.
