Tiered Instruction Returns A Proven Success for Our Students!

We’re excited to announce that in Week 2 of this term, our Tiered Instructional Program in Mathematics will once again be implemented across Years 1 to 6.
This is the second round of our Tiered Instructional Approach, and we’re building on outstanding success. In our previous round, students across all cohorts demonstrated remarkable growth. Over a focused three-week block, learners made significant gains, with many exceeding their previous achievement levels. This targeted and collaborative approach is shaping the way our dedicated teachers design and deliver instruction, ensuring every student makes meaningful progress.
What is Tiered Instruction?
Tiered Instruction is a research-informed approach that ensures every student is taught at their point of need. Here's how it works:
- Students are grouped based on their current understanding of key mathematical concepts, as identified through pre- and mid-assessments.
- Each group receives explicit, structured, and targeted instruction aligned to their individual learning goals.
- This approach allows all students to move forward in their learning with confidence and clarity.
How does it work at our school?
- Pre-Assessment: Every student completed a diagnostic assessment to inform their teacher’s understanding of their current knowledge.
- Tier 1 Instruction: Using this data, teachers planned and delivered rich, differentiated lessons to build core understanding.
- Mid-Assessment: Teachers conducted a mid-point assessment to pinpoint each student’s current learning goal.
- Targeted Tier 2 Instruction: Students will now join flexible groups to receive tailored teaching focused on their next step in learning.
To best support your child’s needs, they may work with a different teacher from within their year-level cohort, including their Learning Community Leader.
We are proud to continue this highly impactful initiative and look forward to celebrating another round of growth and success with our students!
