Wellbeing with Sonya

Provisional Psychologists
We are excited to introduce that two provisional psychologists, Viric and Lorna will be undertaking their final placement at Newlands until the end of 2025. They are both highly motivated and compassionate individuals who are currently completing their Clinical Masters training with 'The Insitute for Social Neuroscience'.
They will be supporting our students in the following ways:
- Individual and group sessions for students
- Classroom observations and teacher consultations
- Support with behaviour management and wellbeing initiatives
- Assistance with assessments and reporting under supervision
The school will be contacting families directly and providing relevant intake forms for family to complete when a student has been identified as benefiting from support from Viric or Lorna.
Please contact Sonya if you have any questions around this initiative.

The Hub
There has been an excited group of students who have been coming to spend their lunch break in the wellbeing hub. It is planned that the "Hub" will be open two days a week for the students to come in and use the resources that we have gathered. There are games, construction materials, creative play resources, craft activities and books to read.
Newlands 75th Anniversary
This year marks the 75th Anniversary of the opening of Newlands Primary School. We will be holding a celebration ion Friday 28th November to recognise this milestone and open the time capsule that was created in 2000.
The assembly will begin at 2:30 and will be followed by school tours and celebration of our school with a picnic and activities which will include a history display.
Can you help us find anyone who was at Newlands in 2000 to be there on the day to help with the opening of the capsule?
Our current students will be involved in creating a selection of objects to place in the capsule to be re-opened at the 100th Anniversary of Newlands in 20250.
