Highlights from Heights
This week, our school is bursting with colour and meaning as we celebrate NAIDOC Week. As part of our celebrations, each class has designed a Deadly Door—a decorated classroom door that honours Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. These doors are a vibrant celebration of the 2025 NAIDOC theme “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy”, and they highlight the creativity, respect, and understanding our students have developed through classroom learning about First Nations cultures and histories. The Deadly Door designs are also part of a friendly and fun competition, with one winning door from each learning centre to be announced at next week’s assembly.
In addition to the Deadly Doors, several displays around the school proudly reflect the rich cultural diversity of our student community. These include artwork and photos that showcase family traditions and cultural heritage. At Springvale Rise, we believe that when students see themselves, their families, and their cultures represented in the learning environment, it fosters a strong sense of identity and belonging. We are proud of the way our displays support learning while also celebrating the unique contributions of every child in our community.
All displays around our school are thoughtfully designed with purpose and intent—especially inside our classrooms. Teachers create visual spaces that support student learning by showcasing key information such as The Zones of Regulation, subject-specific learning intentions and success criteria, along with clear worked examples. These visuals are not only informative but also help students understand and take ownership of their learning, reinforcing the skills and concepts being taught. Equally important is ensuring that our learning environments remain organised and focused—so displays are carefully curated to avoid becoming overwhelming or distracting.
Our wall reflect the vibe of our school, inclusive, focused and bursting with pride!
