Principal's Message

Mrs Kylie Bryant - Principal

Welcome back to Term 3, everyone. I hope you all had a great two weeks with your children. I know many of you have taken the time to escape to warmer weather, which I am sure was a delightful change after the very cold start to winter we have had. On that note, a reminder to ensure that you have labelled all of those jumpers, jackets and tracksuit pants as the classrooms are a stark contrast to the chilly outdoors at the moment and these items are expensive to replace if they become lost!

Term 3, like always, ends up being a very busy one with staff thinking that we will ‘schedule that for Term 3 when it is quieter’ but alas the end result is we have a busy term full of lots of exciting things with excursions and Stage 3 Camp being the highlights. We have had the community calendar updated so any event that has been finalised for Term 3 you will now find in the calendar. The calendar is a great source of information, so please check it regularly for any updates.

With the Stage 3 camp this term, we have changed assemblies a little. For Term 3, K-2 assemblies will be even weeks starting this week and 3-6 assemblies running in odd weeks starting next week. Whole school assemblies will be  held in weeks 5 and 9.

Public Education Week

Next week is Public Education Week, and we will be celebrating this day on Tuesday, 5 August, with lots of activities. This year, in recognition of working families, we have combined several school activities into a single day, allowing families to join us for a variety of key events. We will begin our day with our K-6 Book Parade, followed by open classrooms where parents will have the opportunity to visit their child's classroom and draft Term 3 Literacy and Numeracy goals together. When students are directly involved in setting their learning goals, they take ownership. When parents are also involved and aware of what their child is working towards, it provides opportunities to support and engage with their child’s learning, thereby strengthening the process and increasing student success. We hope you will enjoy participating in this experience. Students will then share these goals with their classroom teacher, where they will finalise, discuss and plan steps to achieve individual goals. If you are unable to join us, please don’t worry, the template that will be used to develop these draft goals will be sent home for you to work on with your child.

Following open classrooms we will have a community picnic morning tea. Please join us throughout the school grounds with a picnic rug and some morning tea. It is a great time to connect with other families and staff.

Following our morning tea we will have our annual Education Week Assembly. The assembly will see our band, choir and dance group perform along with the presentation of our Public Education Week awards.

This year we are celebrating 60 Years of Public Education at Roselea. It is a special milestone and there will be displays both in the hall and library that I encourage you to explore after the assembly finishes. Thank you to the staff and students for putting these together. In the library you will also be able to purchase books that you can donate to the library.

It will be a great day with lots of things happening, we hope you can join us!
