Kate Whitford
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Staffing Update
We welcome back Mrs Mangan from her long service leave and Miss Blackman from her role as the Acting principal at Nanneella.
We also welcome Education support staff, Kylie Burns and Brittany Leddin, to our RPS team who will begin at the start of Term 3.
State Cross Country
Good luck to Orly who competes at the State cross country event at the Yarra Valley Racing Club in Yarra Glen today (Thursday).
State School Spectacular
Our State School Spectacular kids are nearing the business end with their 3rd rehearsal taking place yesterday at the Melbourne Town Hall with other participants from across the State. What a great experience! A shout out to Shelley for all of her organising and planning and to Sandra & Miss Blackman for supporting the group on the day.
Cookie Drive orders - Due
Order forms and payment for our cookie drive are due on or before next Wednesday the 30th July. If you require another order form please call into the office.
NAPLAN Results
This week families who have children in grades 3 and 5 will receive their NAPLAN results in Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation and Numeracy, measured against national benchmarks. NAPLAN tests are a snapshot and just one form of assessment used by our school. It does not replace or override the extensive ongoing assessments our grade 3 and 5 teachers collect to ascertain student performance and inform lesson planning. In the coming weeks staff will look at and discuss these results and look at areas we can celebrate and identify areas which may require extra attention in our planning or teaching.
Elmore Field Days:
Once again we will support the Elmore field Days as one of our major fundraisers and have a few shifts to fill. The Field Days are on the 7th, 8th & 9th of October. We have mostly short shifts and the jobs could include- food production, Food preparation, delivering, serving, cleaning, dish washing, or stationed in the main shed or food van. No experience required. Please contact the office if you or a friend, grandparent or neighbour is able to help us out.
Curriculum Day
Wednesday 13th August is the next Curriculum Day. Students do not attend school on this day. (Except for VSS Spectacular students who will be in Melbourne for their 4th rehearsal).
