School Council 2025

Ciao a tutti!

Dan Ziffer (dad of Elliott, grade 5) here, with a short wrap-up of some of the things happening through School Council.

It’s about to be the holidays so just a few things to think about for the break and next term.

Events:

First thing: mark your diary for the TRIVIA NIGHT, Saturday August 2. It’s a time to leave the children at home and have fun together. Ticket details soon – it’s a great night!

Do you have an item or experience that would be good for the silent auction? We'd love it. Contact Beckett on beckett.rozentals@gmail.com

Also, SCHOOLS TREE DAY 2025 is on Friday July 25, just after school at 3.30pm. Come along and help us plant. And keep your eyes on Compass for notifications about CIAO DOWN on Friday afternoons.

Linear Park:

Since about 2020 Yarra Council has been working on a masterplan for the Linear Park, which for BSPS is between the school and Park Street. You can find out more about it here: https://yoursayyarra.com.au/linearparklands

Today, Thursday July 3 from 3pm to 5pm, there will be council officers in the Linear Parklands near the path leading to Brunswick South Primary School. If you use the space – potentially trying to walk safely on the path during what seems to be ‘Tour de Canning’ – and have thoughts about it, you can talk to them.

Upcoming works:

The BSPS Great Lakes will be no more.

After almost a decade of pushing, the Education Department has confirmed it will do the expensive but much-needed work of fixing the drainage under the school’s eastern open space (where line-up happens).

This has been a slog, and thanks to previous School Councils and administrators for never giving up on making this happen. The end result will be a safer area that reduces long-term problems as well as the short-term issue of wet shoes.

Time to relax:

Have a great break and we’ll see you back for a big Term 3!
