Welcome to our new Careers Centre!
Welcome to our new one-stop pathways shop!
St Joseph’s identifies that all of our students are important and unique, and acknowledges that they will take different paths once leaving our gates. In further recognition of this, we are excited to show you our newly refurbished Careers Centre!
Within our Centre students will not only find all the most current careers information in one place - but also have access to four full-time staff members including Pathways Coordinator, Beth Crossman. Beth has been employed at St Joseph’s College for 34 years and has been working with VCE students for 32 of those 34 years. She commenced the position of Pathways Coordinator in 2014 after completing a Graduate Certificate in Careers Counselling the year prior. She loves the position, especially working with the students and supporting them in finding their pathway, whether that be university, TAFE or employment.
Supporting Beth are our Work-Related Skills staff - Ben Hearn, Terri Hately and Jess Hill, who all have a variety of skill sets, experiences and connections to industry and employers across our community.
Together Beth and the team are available at any time to assist all students with any questions or support regarding work experience, university, TAFE, apprenticeships or traineeships.
The team also specialise in working with individual students on employer expectations, workplace etiquette and relationships, employability skills in theory and action, interpersonal skills, roleplaying work practices, scenarios and job interviews.
St Joseph’s acknowledges that navigating pathways into university or the work force for our young people can be challenging, and the team is here to help.
We encourage all students to take up the opportunity to connect with the team to assist in any way they can or to just have a chat about their options. Because the future is full of endless possibilities!
