Year 11 & 12 Visual Arts Excursion

The recent Art excursion to the Art Gallery of NSW proved both enjoyable and enlightening. The Art Express exhibition provided a clear standard of artistic ability to aspire towards by Year 12, while also unveiling the narratives behind each artwork. Among the captivating displays, the artwork ‘Please miss, not everyone loves Shakespeare as much as you!’ resonated deeply with me, reflecting my sentiment for Shakespearean literature and inspiring aspirations for compositional mastery and skill in the expressive form of drawing. The Wassily Kandinsky exhibition revealed the emotive power of abstract painting, while the Louise Bourgeois showcase offered fresh insights into her art making practice especially with her life experience and how it is expressed in her sculptures. Overall, the excursion was immensely enriching, warranting future visits.

Lucas McNally - Year 11 Visual Arts

Our visit to the art gallery provided a remarkable glimpse into the oeuvre of outstanding artworks and esteemed artists. Beginning with the Art Express Exhibition we were presented with a compelling standard to strive for by Year 12. The excursion provided invaluable exposure to a diverse array of art styles, techniques, compositions, perspectives, offering invaluable insight for our own upcoming body of works. The vivid portrayal of each expressive form authentically conveyed the artists' concepts, igniting our admiration for the breadth of creativity. The exhibitions of Kandinsky and Louise Bourgeois fostered a dynamic interaction between artwork and audience, deepening our appreciation for the artists' perspectives. Overall, this visit proved to be profoundly enjoyable and educational, inspiring us to strive for excellence in our artistic endeavours.

Academic Annexe

Students are welcome to make use of our new Academic Annexe where students will be supported to remain at the College after school in the Senior Resource Centre.

Stay, Study, Succeed!

The Senior Resource Centre is open every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 3:20 pm - 5:20 pm.

Years 5 - 12 students are invited to come to the SRC at the end of the school day to complete homework, work on an upcoming assessment task or engage in private study. The SRC is a quiet space conducive to productive work and free from distractions.

For the remainder of the term, there will be staff members to assist students in the Academic Annexe. From Term 2 the College aims to employ past students to act as tutors in support of any student who may require assistance. This is a great opportunity to complete study notes, homework and/or receive additional support when completing work or preparing for an exam.

Students will be required to sign in to the SRC upon arrival so that the College can monitor student numbers to ensure we have adequate supervision in place.

This exciting opportunity is just the beginning for the Academic Annexe. The College looks forward to supporting all our students, from Years 5-12, to be the best students that they can be.
