Physical Education
Preps kickstarted the term by delving into the world of fundamental movement skills (FMS). Through engaging activities, we explored running, jumping, hopping, galloping, and skipping in isolation for students to utilise these skills in game-based play.
Our Grade 1 and 2students have been strengthening their catching and throwing skills. Utilising a variety of equipment from balls to bean bags and varying distance to enhance their proficiency. Skills have been introduced through game-based scenarios for students to grasp the skill prior to applying it in sport specific scenarios.
Following our Grade 3 and 4’s, students have been participating in our athletics program. Students have had the opportunity to participate in obstacle courses consisting of agility ladders, hurdles and precision-targeted challenges. The goal is to develop students’ movement skills required for the running and jumping events in athletics.
Meanwhile, in Grades 5 and 6, students have been participating in a basketball unit exploring the essential skills required such as dribbling, passing and shooting. Students have been exploring these skills in isolation to progress toward applying it to game-based scenarios.
