Swimming Carnival

Jackie and Nonie, our grade 6 student liaison captains were our poolside reporters at the BBPS House Swimming Carnival. We invite you to read their excellent review of the day below:

Last Friday, Brighton Beach Primary had our annual swimming carnival at Blue Fin Swim Centre. This was a big event for our school, where different houses competed in many different swimming strokes over 50 metres.

At this event, most students from Years 3-6 compete for house points to try and win the House Shield.

All the strokes were: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. There were a lot of students that we noticed were already fast as they started their race and kept getting faster as they made their way to the finish. Many of the swimmers will go to districts to represent our school against other schools in the Bayside area.

The events were categorised by age group to ensure that all races were fair. At the end of the carnival, students from each house faced off against both parents and teachers in a relay race. The parents were victorious.

There were a lot of outstanding performances and all students put in an amazing effort throughout the day.

The standings were:

1st - Grainger (yellow)

2nd - Wilson (blue)

3rd - Dendy (red)

And 4th -  Gordon (green).

Well done to everyone involved!

We also love to see our students getting into the house spirit. Here are our Dendy house captains and friends!

2024 Student Leaders

We were honoured to host Ms Zoe Daniel MP, the federal member for Goldstein. Ms Daniel presented our grade 6 leaders with their certificates, and spoke to our students about how leaders need to be courageous, even if they are not always feeling confident.

We would also like to congratulate our student leaders, who are already making an impact in small and large ways around the school.

Mrs May loves to sing! (The only thing she loves more than singing is her beloved Magpies). Mrs May recently visited grade 1 and they really enjoyed learning some new songs: Waltzing Matilda, and Wombat on a Surfboard
