Student Wellbeing

As we reflect on another fortnight at WACoA Cunderdin, we are delighted to share our continued commitment to promoting holistic wellbeing among our students. Our latest initiatives aim to cultivate a culture of health, resilience, and compassion within our school community.

This week our Year 12 students had the opportunity to engage in healthy talks on consent, led by our dedicated health nurse Donna Jasper. These discussions are essential for empowering students with the knowledge and understanding needed to navigate relationships with respect, empathy, and integrity. By fostering open dialogue on this crucial topic, we aim to promote a culture of consent and mutual respect within our school community. The year 11 cohort will do something similar with Donna next week.

In addition to the healthy talks on consent, we had our end of term wellbeing reward day

on Wednesday afternoon. This special event featured a barefoot bowls competition, offering students the chance to unwind, connect with peers, and enjoy some friendly competition in a relaxed outdoor setting. We believe that promoting leisure activities like barefoot bowls not only encourages physical activity but also provides valuable opportunities for social interaction and stress relief.

Furthermore, our ongoing skills development sessions, continue to focus on mindfulness strategies rooted in dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). These sessions aim to equip students with practical skills to manage emotions, reduce stress, and enhance overall wellbeing. By incorporating mindfulness practices into our curriculum, we empower students to cultivate greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and resilience in the face of life's challenges.

Thank you for your continued support in promoting wellbeing at WACoA Cunderdin.

Warm regards, stay safe and take care.
