Level 5

Welcome to 5KB!

We have had a wonderful start to 2024. The students in 5KB are so lucky to share our learning space with 5NP. Collectively we are called 5KAN because we can do anything we put our mind to.

Reading

In reading this term we have been focusing on asking good questions and making inferences. We have loved listening to the 6 Minute Podcast where we make connection, predictions and share our questions. Sometimes at the end of an episode we have more questions than answers!

Writing

We have been focusing on writing narratives. We have been exploring the rich word choices found in picture stories book. After reading ‘Fox’ by Margaret Wild we created a word choice wall to inspire us to select the best words in our writing.

We have also been working on creating awesome character descriptions so that the reader can really visualize what our characters look like. Check out our awesome examples.

Inquiry

We have been exploring Australian History and have enjoyed using our iPads to research why a particular date was important. We used an app called ‘PicCollage” to display our research which we will use to create a timeline.
