STEM Captains
Meet the STEM Captains
Greetings! We are the 2024 STEM Captains: Sebastian, Oscar, Sophie, and Jackson.
Today we will go through what is happening with our role and all about STEM at St Joseph’s.
STEM
We have a dedicated STEM class every two weeks. If you are looking for something that happens every week then be sure to apply for DigiMaker (coding club) which happens every Friday at recess.
In Term 2, the STEM Captains will be starting a STEM club at lunchtime once a week. We will involve students in fun experiments and we have planned some fun activities!

One big thing that we are working on is that we are producing a STEM Code of Conduct for the use of devices and technology in our school. A code of conduct is a set of guidelines that we have to follow to be allowed to use the School's technology respectfully, and safely and to stay safe online.
On Monday 4th we had our first open day. Personally, we think the STEM Captains display was the most interactive group, and it was really fun to do. We showed the guests some of the robots we have access to such as: Spheros, LEGO Mindstorms, a Makey Makey piano, robotic mice, and Jimu.
This year our big wish is to get the school off the grid through fundraising and through the grant provided by CSIRO. Hopefully, we can raise enough funds to provide the school with a good solar system. We hope to get the ball rolling before the 2024 STEM Captains leave for high school.
