Dendy District Swimming - By Alexis & Pat C

This year our school competed in the Dendy District Swimming at Oakleigh. The students who participated did an amazing job and did their best to win a ribbon. We had two time breakers, in Year five, Callum in the Freestyle race, and In Year Six, Alexis, in Butterfly. Here are the students who were in the relay team, Lenny, Frances, Harriet and Alexis. We won the percentage trophy (where they divided the number of points by the number of students) and came third overall!

We were so happy that we came third because we made a huge team effort and everyone contributed - and we celebrated!

We are getting the shield engraved with our proud St Joseph's name. We have now won the trophy three years in a row and we have won the shield five times overall. We are a proud school and we are very happy with our results!

District Tennis - by Frances and Harriet

On the 22 of February schools from the area competed in an inter-school tennis tournament. There were two girls and two boys who could compete in the tennis tournament from each school. From year 3 to 6 people could try out to be on the team. The kids from our school that got in were Nicholas from Year three, Max from Year five, and Frances and Harriet from Year six. The day started at 8:30 and finished at 1:00pm.

Harriet: I like playing sports and think that it is fun and enjoyable.

Frances: I really liked this experience because it was something new and I had so much fun playing for my school.

Cross Country - By Cataleya and Adhithi

Hi, our names our Adhithi and Cataleya we will be talking about our School Cross Country which is happening on Thursday 28th of March, the last day of Term 1, for our Year 3s - 6s at Spring Park.

Depending on which grade you're in you do more or less laps and eventually, you can gain points for your house colour. At the end, the teachers tally up the house colour points to see which colour has won.

Don’t worry, if you can’t make it to the school Cross Country, you still have a chance to make it to the Dendy Cross Country in Term 2. School Cross Country starts at 9:30am-11:00am.

WE REALLY HOPE YOU CAN MAKE IT!!!

Sports Clubs - By Lenny

This year the Sports Captains are going to help make new Sport Clubs and we can’t wait for all of the fun things planned. Some of the clubs before and after school we have are soccer, netball, karate, running club and tennis. Every Monday at first break we have Sport Club that the Year 6 Sport Captains and Mr Cleary run. We’d just like to say a great job to all the Preps, ones and twos for trying their best at Sports Club!

Open Day from the Sports Captains - by Henry & Myles

At Open Day, we showed all the prospective parents our poster, informative slides and the swimming shield. We also set up a lot of games for the little kids to try out. The favourite was clearly the parachute! We also gave the little kids stickers for taking part and for being so responsible with the equipment.

It was so fun to play with the little kids!
