Snapshots from Springvale Campus

It has been wonderful to see such a positive and purposeful start to learning across all year levels this year. Across our Learning Centres, teachers and students have been working together to establish calm, safe and learning-focused environments where every child feels happy, secure and ready to learn. A strong emphasis has been placed on explicitly teaching classroom routines, clarifying expectations, building learning stamina and developing collaborative skills. We are already seeing students confidently engaging in their learning, asking thoughtful questions and supporting one another. By prioritising routines, organisation and positive behaviours, we are creating classrooms where every child feels safe, supported and set up for success.

In other news, this week began with an unusual rescue mission on Springvale Campus. On Monday morning, a crow was spotted stuck high in a tall gum tree at the front of the school, seemingly tangled and unable to free itself. Mrs Hutchins quickly showed great care and initiative by contacting Springvale Fire Brigade and Wildlife Victoria for assistance. Both organisations responded promptly and worked together to ensure a safe rescue. Firefighters carefully extended the ladder while wildlife rescuers gently secured the bird. We are pleased to share that the crow was successfully assessed and then freed by Wildlife Victoria. This real-life event became an unexpected learning opportunity for our students, highlighting the important role of community helpers and reinforcing lessons about compassion and caring for wildlife.

We extend our sincere thanks to Springvale Fire Brigade and Wildlife Victoria for their swift response and dedication.
