Prayer for a New School Year

Loving God,

We thank You for the gift of new beginnings -

for fresh starts, new opportunities, and the promise each new day holds.

As we begin this school year, we place our trust in You.

Bless our students, that they may grow in confidence, curiosity and courage.

Help them to be kind in their words, generous in their actions,

and faithful in living out our Gospel values.

Bless our teachers and staff, that they may teach with wisdom,

patience and joy, and guide each child with compassion, understanding and hope.

Bless our families, that together we may walk in partnership,

supporting one another and building a community grounded in faith, respect and love.

May our school be a place of welcome, belonging and learning,

where every person is valued and encouraged to become the very best version of themselves.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Principal’s Reflection

There is something undeniably exciting about new beginnings. They carry a sense of promise, hope and anticipation - like the crisp pages of a new exercise book or the first strokes of a fresh pack of textas. Each new experience invites us to imagine what might unfold, to dream, to grow, and to begin again.

At the start of a new school year, we are gifted countless fresh starts: new days, new friendships, new experiences, and new opportunities. Each morning offers a chance to reset, to try again, and to become a little more of who we are called to be. Whether stepping into a new class, meeting new peers, or setting new goals, these moments invite us to move forward with courage and optimism.

New beginnings also call us to be open - open to possibility, to learning, and to connection. When we approach each day with open hearts and minds, we create space for growth, kindness, and discovery. We learn that mistakes are part of the journey, that resilience is nurtured through effort, and that success is shaped by persistence and hope.

As a College community, we are invited to embrace these beginnings together. By welcoming one another, supporting each other’s journeys, and celebrating both the small and significant milestones along the way, we build a culture where every student is known, valued, and encouraged.

May this year be filled with new experiences, meaningful connections, and moments that inspire us all. May we step forward with confidence, faith, and a genuine openness to the possibilities that lie ahead.

Our College Theme for 2026…

This year, our College theme, “To Bloom We Will…”, celebrates the unique ways in which each member of our community grows, learns, and thrives. Developed by our Year 10 Leadership Team, the theme reminds us that just like flowers, we all bloom at different times and in different ways. Each of us has our own strengths, talents, and gifts, and when we come together, our differences combine to create something truly beautiful - a vibrant bouquet of learning, friendship, and community.

To bring this theme to life, every class and Clan member will create their own flower, representing their individuality and contribution to the College. From these, one flower from each group will be selected to form a collaborative poster, symbolising how each person’s growth contributes to the life and spirit of our College. This project not only highlights creativity and teamwork, but also serves as a visual reminder that we all have the ability to bloom in our own way, while supporting and celebrating the growth of others.

This year, we are excited to announce our new partnership with Seabournes, which brings updated coaches, consistent routes, and a smoother experience for our students commuting to and from the College. With Roll Call, parents and staff can now track students in real time, providing an extra layer of safety and reassurance. We are committed to ensuring that every student has a reliable and comfortable journey each day, and we are grateful for the ongoing support and patience shown by families during the first few days, especially with the usual challenges of Hobart traffic.

We understand that the start of a new transport system can come with occasional hiccups, and we appreciate your understanding as we settle into these improvements. We welcome any feedback or concerns from parents and staff so that we can continue to refine and enhance the service. Your input is invaluable in helping us provide a safe, efficient, and supportive transport experience for all students.
