 RE & Wellbeing

Dear Families,

The Beginning of the Year Mass on Wednesday evening was a special celebration - thank you to families that were able to attend. A big thank you to Father Aloysius for being so thoughtful in the homily he shares during our masses. He is always very supportive of our school community. The choir was in fine voice too;  it is a joy for Marty and I to make music together with students who are so enthusiastic about singing!

SACRAMENTS

This year Confirmation is on Friday 1st of May at 5.30pm with Bishop Rene.

This is for baptised catholic students who have previously received the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. At Sacred Heart Parish, Confirmation is celebrated every 2nd year - so Year 5 and 6 students will make their Confirmation this year. A note will be sent home with more information about Confirmation in the coming weeks.

The Sacrament of First Eucharist will be on Sunday 21st of June at 10.30am, during theSacred Heart Parish Mass. This is for Year 4 students and baptised catholic students from Year 5 and 6 who may not have received this sacrament and wish to do so.

First Reconciliation is for students in Year 3 and will be held in September. We are confirming the date with Father Aloysius and add this date to the calendar when it is confirmed.

LENT - Project Compassion

This Lent, our school community is supporting Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion, uniting in faith and action to make a lasting impact for vulnerable communities around the world. In our classrooms, we’ll be sharing four inspiring stories of resilience and strength, showing the kind of transformative change that we can play a part in achieving.

One story is of Sisilia, a young student from Tanzania, who often missed classes at school because she had to walk long distances to collect water every day. Thanks to Project Compassion and the support of schools just like ours, her community now has safe, clean water nearby – giving Sisilia more time to learn and chase her dreams of one day becoming a pilot.

At Sacred Heart we will be holding a fundraising event in late March to raise funds for Project Compassion. Donations can also be made through donation boxes in classrooms.

Have a great weekend.

Take Care,

Kate

School Attendance

Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) have encouraged schools to share the flyer  School is better when your child is here, in regard to the importance of regular, on time attendance at school.  Being 10 to 15 minutes late over a number of days a week can really impact students ability to enter the classroom and be ready to learn. Similarly for those that regularly miss the last half an hour of the school day - students miss the recap of lessons, experiences and often important information about the next day.

Every day does matterfor students to feel connected and for their educational outcomes.
