STEAM
What a great start to STEAM this year. Our students are extremely talented and I am looking forward to the Art Show in Term 3, so you can see their creative work.
So far we have been working on line work, in particular Doodles. I have put a display up in and outside the STEAM classroom. So if you are in the school come and have a look at their work.
The Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 students used different patterns and shapes to create their own design using a sharpie or fine liner. Some students then chose to use the ‘pencil smudging technique’ to colour some or all the spaces in their design.
Art Smocks / Old Shirts
Could every child bring in an Art Smock or Old shirt to wear in the STEAM room as there will be times when the activities we are doing will be messy and this will allow your child's school uniform to be kept fairly clean. Please label it with their name and class. They will be kept in the STEAM room for easy access when they are needed. Thank you.
Old Newspapers and Magazines
If anyone has any old newspapers or magazines that you are throwing away, could you please bring them to the school as we are always looking for more magazines and papers to use during our learning activities. Thank you.
Physical Education
We have had a wonderful start to the year in PE. The weather has been on our side and the rain hasn’t kicked us off the courts yet!
I have been incredibly impressed by the enthusiasm and sportsmanship shown by our students, well done!
Students across the year groups have been sharing some of their favourite
warm-up games with me, and Rock-paper-scissors Battle has emerged as a crowd favourite.
As a new addition to the team at Sacred Heart this year, I have enjoyed getting to know all of the students of our school. I am looking forward to seeing what the rest of the year brings.
Kind regards
John
Celebrating Italian Day at Sacred Heart!
We are excited to share that Sacred Heart will be celebrating Italian Day on Wednesday 11 March!
Italian Day will be a fun and engaging celebration of Italian culture, giving students the opportunity to experience Italy through music, food, and creativity.
What to expect on the day:
- Dress up: Students are encouraged to wear something Italian. This could be the colours of the Italian flag, Italian fashion, or a famous Italian person.
- Interactive Performance: Students will enjoy a lively and interactive performancewith Nadia Cavallo, whose songs are familiar to them through our Italian classroomlearning. This will take place in the Multipurpose Area.
- Italian Lunch: A special pizza, gelato and drink lunch will be available for students to enjoy. An order form with further details will be sent home shortly. We look forward to sharing this special cultural experience with our students.
