Boarding Life

With the initial flurry of welcoming our newest residents now behind us, the Boarding House has settled into a steady and rhythmical routine. It is within these daily rhythms that girls find a sense of security and predictability, both so important for their wellbeing. Our hope is that the House serves as a stable base from which each girl can build her version of success. Structure provides reassurance; consistency builds confidence; and within that framework, our boarders will continue to grow in independence and self-management.

This year we have also introduced a new initiative for 2026, “On Wednesdays We…”, an intentional moment to gather as a whole house, something increasingly rare amidst busy co-curricular schedules and competing commitments. Across the year, these Wednesdays will vary in focus, nurturing physical, emotional, and social wellbeing, with each session designed and led by members of our student-led Boarding Leadership Team.

Last Wednesday, we celebrated “Galentine’s Day,” beautifully led by Head Boarder Madeleine and Deputy Head Boarder Nellie. Girls wrote uplifting notes to one another, decorated biscuits, and enjoyed both giving and receiving roses. It was a warm and genuine celebration of sisterhood.

Weekends have been equally full. Our regional girls are delighting in their proximity to the coast, with a warm evening spent at Glenelg alongside a morning of lawn bowls with our “brother” boarding house, Rostrevor.
