Duke of Edinburgh

Our Year 9 students are beginning their journey with the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (Bronze Level), a globally recognised program that encourages young people to grow in resilience, independence, service, and personal challenge. The Award aligns beautifully with our Year 9 Beyond program, providing opportunities for students to serve others, develop new skills, commit to physical activity, and participate in an Adventurous Journey experience. We are excited to walk alongside students as they step outside their comfort zones, discover new strengths, and experience the satisfaction that comes from perseverance and meaningful contribution.

Year 10 VET

The first few weeks of Year 10 VET at Devonport Christian School have been an exciting and positive start for our students. Across all pathways, students have quickly engaged in hands-on learning and are already building valuable skills for their future.

In Hospitality, students have stepped confidently into the kitchen, learning essential safety procedures and working collaboratively as they begin preparing and presenting dishes. The energy and teamwork have been outstanding.

Our Sports Coaching students have embraced leadership opportunities, beginning to design and deliver training activities while developing communication and teamwork skills. It has been fantastic to see their confidence grow so quickly.

In Math Methods, students have made a strong start, tackling challenging concepts with focus and determination. Their willingness to extend their thinking and problem-solving skills has set a great tone for the term ahead.

Meanwhile, Construction Trade VET students have been enthusiastic in the workshop, learning to use tools safely and beginning foundational trade projects. Their practical skills and positive attitudes have already been impressive.

Overall, the first couple of weeks have highlighted the strength of our Year 10 VET programs, engaging, purposeful, and equipping students with real-world skills in a supportive environment. We look forward to seeing their continued growth throughout the year.
