Well done to our district swimming team, who competed at the Tarneit district swimming carnival on the 19th February! You swam very well and represented Tarneit Rise exceptionally well! We are all very proud.
Preps
The Preps are focused on their throwing with week 5 focusing on Underarm throwing, and this week we focused on our overarm throw. We use the technique of a skateboard stance, bunny ears grip, once to aim and to ensure that we follow through, we follow a 2 to make sure pointing at where we were aiming to start.
Grade 1s and 2s
Grade 1s and 2s have been focusing on their throwing technique as well as their catching technique. They been focused on making sure they are using a skateboard stance, bunny ears grip, once to aim and then two to make sure. When catching, we follow a release, rotate, catch to make sure students keep their hands in the air to catch in triangle hands.
Grade 3s and 4s
Grade 3s have been focusing on their fielding skills. The last two weeks they focused on their positioning as well as what to do when they get the ball. They have been looking ahead to see where the strikers have been running to so they can attempt to get them out.
Grade 4s have been learning how to use the gloves when fielding as well as how to implement the tag-out rule. They been focusing when striking if their run is forced or unforced and have paid extra attention to their surroundings based on where fielders are standing.
Grades 5s and 6s
Grade 5s have been focusing on their communication when they are on the offence as well as the defence. They been focusing on where to call for the ball when fielding and when to run when they are on the striking team allowing for them to score as many runs as possible.
Grade 6s have also been focusing on their pitching to better their chances of winning. Students have been communicating where to strike the ball when batting, where to stand when they are fielding, and have been ensuring that they are restricting as many runs as possible through the positions that they are set up in.
Team of the Week
Team of the week is a starting 11 of students who have shown the school values in all areas of PE. They may not always be the most talented, but they have the best attitudes and eagerness to learn when it comes to PE.
