Supporting Students with Transition into 2025

This week, students participated in two Step-Up sessions, giving them the chance to meet some of the students, teachers, and explore classrooms in their upcoming year level. Transition sessions like these help ease anxieties, build confidence, and ensure students feel more prepared for the year ahead. The final Meet the Teacher session is scheduled for Tuesday, December 10th.

Please know it is normal for some students to feel anxious about transitioning to their next year level. We understand that change can bring a mix of excitement and uncertainty. You can support your child during this time by:

  1. Talk About the Positives: Focus on the exciting aspects of the new year, such as meeting new friends, learning new things, or engaging in fun activities. Reassure your child that it's normal to feel a little nervous and that they will have support along the way.
  2. Familiarize Them with What's Ahead: If possible, visit their new classroom, look at next year's curriculum, or talk about their new teacher to help them feel more prepared and confident.
  3. Practice Coping Strategies: Teach your child simple techniques to manage their feelings, such as deep breathing, positive self-talk, or writing down their worries. Remind them to focus on their strengths and how they've successfully managed changes in the past.

Together, we can help our students feel prepared and supported as they take this next step in their learning journey.
