Principal's Report

Dear Skye Families,

Transition

This week marked the start of our Transition Program for students in Years 1–6, with two sessions designed to help them feel confident about moving into their next year level in 2025. Please note that the classes students have been transitioning into this week are not yet  finalised. Additionally, all placement requests have now closed. Students will have the opportunity to meet their teacher and finalised class on the final transition day, scheduled for Tuesday, 10th December.

Community Picnic

We’re excited to host our annual Community Picnic on Wednesday, 4th December—a wonderful opportunity to come together and celebrate the approaching festive season. Bring along a picnic rug and some food, and enjoy a relaxed evening on the oval while our talented students perform a selection of festive songs.

On arrival, children will need to check in with their classroom teacher before joining their families for the performances. Students will remain with their families until it’s time for their performance, at which point they’ll move to the designated ‘wings’ area. We look forward to seeing you there and sharing in the festive cheer!

Ardoch

This week, we received the sad news that Ardoch, the children’s education charity, will be closing at the end of the year. Over the years, Ardoch has enriched the learning experiences of our students through programs such as Writer in Residence and Literacy Buddies, along with providing funded excursions to exciting places.

Having been closely involved in these programs, I can personally attest to the incredible impact Ardoch has had on our community. On behalf of the Skye Primary School community, I’d like to express our deepest gratitude for their support and the legacy they’ve left behind.
