The Next Fortnight of Learning

Literacy

In the coming weeks students will be exploring how visual techniques and design are used to persuade consumers. They will be thinking critically about how brands use contrasting colours, slogans, facts or statistics and exaggeration on cereal boxes create excitement and interest by shoppers. T

 

hey will be working to create their own designs which include a slogan or catchy title with alliteration - ‘Big. Beefy. Bliss’, emotive of high modal language, sense of urgency e.g. limited time flavour and expert opinion or research/statistics - ‘great source of your daily fibre and mineral needs’. 

 

Maths

 In our Applied Maths unit students will be investigating data displays to determine differences in the way collected information can be presented. This will allow them to begin to formulate and play their own surveys using open and closed questions.

 

Inquiry

Over the next fortnight students will continue to work in groups creating their paper mache volcanoes. They will be working in groups to construct and paint their volcanoes before we conduct our experiment and record the results.
