The Next Fortnight of Learning
Maths
In Grade 4 this fortnight, our math adventures continue as we explore short division, where students will learn how to divide numbers quickly and efficiently. We're also uncovering the fascinating world of symmetry, focusing on both rotational and line symmetry in shapes and flags. In addition, we're diving into angles, exploring right, straight, acute, and obtuse angles, making sure to recognize them in everyday objects.
Literacy
In the next two weeks, we will dive into the world of fairy tales and fables! The students will explore how stories like "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" and "Two Goats" are told in different ways across cultures and discuss why authors might change details in a story. They will also get to create their own fractured fairy tales, where they will twist classic stories into something new and exciting! It will be wonderful to watch the students discover the magic of storytelling and learn how the same tale can look different through the eyes of different authors.
Inquiry
The students have been immersed in completing a range of experiments relating to our 'Types of Forces' Inquiry topic. They have been learning about friction, exploring elasticity and magnetic force. For the next few weeks, we are going to be looking at our new Inquiry topic, that being 'Changes to Earth's Surfaces', where students will be learning about the impact erosion has on our environment.
Wellbeing
The students have continued to finalise their work on 'Gender and Identity' and their understanding of the influence of the media and literature in the construction of gender norms.
In Grade 4 our Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships program is committed to addressing the critical issue of promoting gender respect. This topic is designed to equip our students with the knowledge and skills necessary to foster a society free from gender discrimination and violence. We will explore factors that contribute to positive relationships and identity a range of conflict resolution strategies for positive outcomes to problems. We encourage you to engage in conversations with your children on these topics at home. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Reflection
Golf Incursion
The Grade 4 Golf incursion was a blast! We had so much fun practicing our putting skills and working together as a team to collect the most points. With some superstar golfers in the group, everyone gave their best effort and made the session unforgettable!
The students have been busy practicing their Christmas song for the upcoming Community Picnic, and their beautiful singing voices are truly shining! We can't wait to see you all there and share the Christmas fun with our wonderful community.
