REMINDERS
- Now that the sun has come back to join us, please ensure that your child has a named hat. ALL students are expected to wear a hat during playtimes.
- Please send in your child's reading satchel every day. Students MUST keep their take home readers and library books in their satchels to ensure they are protected. We will not be sending home readers without satchels.
- We go to Library on Mondays so please ensure your child's satchel and/or library bag is packed or they will not be able to borrow for home.
- Learning starts promptly in the morning. Please remember to take/remind your child to use the toilet before the 8.45am bell so nothing important is missed.
- Please be mindful that mornings are a time filled with lesson prepping, staff collaboration and preparation for the day. We are always happy to schedule meetings with parents and guardians on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, alternatively feel free to email us with any questions, comments or concerns.
Upcoming Learning
Literacy
Students will be reviewing their phonics knowledge for the remainder of this term. We will be working hard to continue our research into prehistoric creatures and non-fiction texts. Students will be drafting and publishing their information reports, as well as creating diagrams to support their findings. They will also have opportunities to do some fun, creative writing to finish out the year.
Numeracy
After a busy few weeks exploring fractions of collections, we will now shift to reviewing key learning throughout the year. Students will play lots of fluency games and we will continue to use review slides to access prior learning.
Inquiry
This term we are exploring the unit 'Through Generations.’ Students will use their knowledge of the lives of people in the past to participate in conversations with their parents and grandparents. They will pose interesting questions and think of follow-up questions. Students will use language to describe events in the past, present and future and provide reasons for their conclusions. They will develop an interest in different ways that people tell stories and an appreciation of the importance of place to different cultures.
Wellbeing
We will continue to explore our Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships curriculum this term, as well as focusing on regulating emotions and ensuring we are 'ready to learn,' or at least moving towards being in that headspace. We will be reflecting on and celebrating our year together as we move through 'Step Up' sessions and the final weeks of Grade 2.
Celebration of Learning
Have a great next fortnight!
