Spring Market Raises an Incredible $66,560 with a Profit of $33,112!!
The Brunswick North West community came together on October 19th for our annual market, embracing its transformation from a winter to spring celebration. Despite heavy rain the day before threatening to dampen spirits, our community proved unstoppable, turning out in force for what became a magnificent spring day. The new basketball court was a spectacular sight, adorned with beautiful bunting fluttering in the breeze – a perfect symbol of the market's successful seasonal transition.
We’re thrilled to announce that the market raised an incredible $66,579 with a profit of $33,794. Below is a breakdown per stall:
Market Highlights
The fresh spring setting brought new energy to our annual event, with families basking in the sunshine where they once huddled with hot chai. This year's market was a feast for the senses, with an impressive array of food options that reflected our diverse and vibrant community. The aroma of the lamb spit roast filled the air, while food trucks and stalls offered everything from authentic Ethiopian and Indonesian cuisine to perfectly baked potatoes and the ever popular nuggets and chips. Thirsts were quenched at both our popular lemonade stand and the adults' bar, ensuring everyone stayed refreshed throughout the day.
The marketplace buzzed with activity as visitors explored an extensive collection of artisan stalls and the art auction displayed our community's creative talents, while the second-hand clothing stall gave pre-loved items a new home. As day turned to evening, the children's disco had young ones burning energy, while parents enjoyed the festive atmosphere among the amusement rides, games and furry friends that dotted our school grounds.
Acknowledgments
An event of this magnitude would not have been possible without the dedication of many individuals. Special thanks go to our tireless organising committee – Fiona Henderson, Vanessa Hughes, Natalie Forde, Ange Hopkins, Sarah McQuillen Wendy Sanderson and Kelly Davis, led by the incredible Rebecca Hendy – who worked countless hours to ensure the market's success. We extend our gratitude to Ange, our school business manager, whose expertise was invaluable in coordinating the financial and operation aspects of the event.
We are particularly grateful to Ray White Real Estate for their generous sponsorship, which helped make this event possible. Their support demonstrates the strong connection between our school and the local business community.
Perhaps most importantly, we want to acknowledge the numerous parents and carers who volunteered their time and energy across all aspects of the market. From setting up stalls and serving food to managing activities and cleaning up – your contribution was essential to creating this vibrant community event. And, of course to all our community, school families and beyond, who attended and supported this event.
Looking Forward
The funds raised will be instrumental in supporting the school. We look forward to updating you on where these funds will be used, a decision to be in collaboration with school leadership, school council, sub-committees and the broader community before the end of the year.
