From the Principal's Desk
Welcome to Week 5, Term 4!
Last term all families were invited to complete the "Partners in Learning" Parent Survey through Tell Them From Me. We received 40 respondents which was the best response we've ever had. The comprehensive questionnaire covers several aspects of parents' perceptions of their children's experiences at home and school. It is based on a framework for fostering positive relationships between the school and community. The survey also provides feedback to schools about the extent to which parents feel the school supports learning and positive behaviour and promotes a safe and inclusive environment.
The survey includes seven separate measures, which were scored on a ten-point scale. Below is the web diagram showing where the school scored compared to the NSW Government mean in each measure.
Over the coming weeks I will report on our school's results in each of the seven areas.
Outdoor Learning Day and FM 100.3
What a fantastic day the students had last Thursday. The day started with FM 100.3 broadcasting from the school in the morning. This was a great promotion for our school, with students lined up eager to talk to Steve and Michael.
It was a warm day for the Outdoor Learning, but all students really enjoyed the opportunity to learn outside and it was great to see a number of parents and grandparents call in and join us. At the end of the day, we had Wes from the Warrumbungles Environmental Education Centre and Dr Heidi from UNE talk to all students about the Tree Troff and a program that we will be part of called Koalas and Others. This involves a group of students monitoring what animals use the Tree Troff and reporting it back to other schools on the program.
Remembrance Day Ceremony
On Monday the school leaders represented Martin's Gully at the Remembrance Day Ceremony held at Central Park. Once again, the students represented the school with pride at this very important ceremony.
