Message from the Principal Team
Week 5 Term 4 2024
Dear CNPS Families,
As we move to the mid-point of Term 4, I want to acknowledge the hard working Education Support (ES) staff at CNPS. Without the dedication and expertise of ES staff, schools simply cannot function. Our Education Support team, both administrative or within classrooms provide continuous support to students, teachers and community members. I often marvel at the talents of our ES staff as they support families with administrative matters or work in classrooms to support student learning and wellbeing. On behalf of the CNPS community, I thank our hard working ES staff for their tireless efforts.
Thank You – Voluntary Contributions
The families of Carlton North Primary School are amazing. Recently at the School Council meeting held on Tuesday 29 October 2024, School Councillors were acknowledging the generosity of CNPS families when making voluntary contributions for the 2024 school year. These funds support the learning and wellbeing programs that operate throughout the year. Thank you to all the families who have made voluntary contributions in 2024. Please look out for information regarding voluntary financial contributions for 2025.
School Values
Embracing the CNPS values is an important aspect of school connection. I have engaged in multiple conversations with students in the past four and half weeks about school values and why CNPS values are imperative at school and at home. Another important link between CNPS school values is personal responsibility, particularly taking care of belongings. I have made many announcements in my short time at CNPS to remind students of the importance of caring for their belongings and taking responsibility for misplaced items. I will continue these ongoing dialogues about values and taking responsibility for belongings the remainder of the term. I encourage families to continue these conversations at home and build upon the school - home partnership.
School Planning 2025 (Further Reminder)
A further reminder to the community that CNPS is immersed in planning for 2025. If any families of students in Foundation – Year 5 are planning to exit the school at the end of the year, please make contact with the office. This important information will support the school in planning for student and teacher placement in 2025.
Foundation – Year 4 Swimming Program
We are pleased to announce that the Swimming in Schools Program is back for Foundation to Year 4 students. It will be held at Carlton Baths, beginning the 18 November 2024. The program will run for 2 weeks and be held every day, except for Wednesdays (8 sessions in total). The Swimming in Schools Program is designed to increase opportunities for students to learn how to swim and develop lifelong skills in swimming and water safety to reduce their risk of drowning and injury. Please visit Compass Events for more information.
Year 5/6 Bike Education Program
It has been wonderful to observe firsthand the exciting bike education program that Chris runs for the Year 5/6 students. In the weeks ahead students will begin moving from the school site to put their skills in action on local bike lanes and paths. As a school we take safety seriously and I thank Chris, teachers and volunteers for their work in ensuring students are safe during these events.
Please reach out to Jane, Erin, Trish or I should you have any questions or require support.
Warm Regards,
Matthew Ferguson
Acting Principal
