Our Foundation students have learned 12 fruit names and are now using them in simple Chinese sentences combined with the color words they learned in Term 3. They can say phrases like “I love to eat red apples” (我爱吃红色的苹果 - Wǒ ài chī hóng sè de píng guǒ in Chinese).

They learned to sing the “Fruit Song” in Chinese and could perform it from memory within a few weeks. Why not ask your child to sing it for you?

Currently, the students are actively practicing and teaching each other fruit names in pairs, helping one another with pronunciation. They enjoy interacting through this activity, which reinforces their learning. The "Fruit Song" has been a fun way for them to remember the fruit names more easily.

Grade 1/2 students have been learning to tell time on the hour and half-hour. They recently completed clock faces showing different times from 1 to 12 o’clock in Chinese. In the coming weeks, they will expand their time-telling skills to include hours and minutes. As part of this, they will be crafting Chinese castle-themed paper clocks to reinforce their understanding in a hands-on way.
