Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTML)

The Structure of the VTML focuses on the evidence about how students learn as the basis for effective teaching. It provides increased clarity for teachers about the elements of teaching that have the strongest evidence base. The VTLM links to best practice approaches from the Department of Education and beyond, that contributes to effective student wellbeing and classroom management.

LPS Learning Specialists have been working hard behind the scenes in correlating our current teaching and learning practices with the VTM Elements of Learning and Teaching.  A great deal of conversation has been had in teams in relation to what Explicit Teaching looks, sounds and feels like:

  • from Prep all the way through to Year 6
  • throughout all subjects, especially the core subjects of English and Mathematics
  • within our investigations and Inquiry approach at LPS.

In 2025, the VTLM will be a major focus point for all teachers.

Life is precious

Every day is a gift.  We live in an incredible community and work within a wonderful school.  We celebrate successes, laugh and smile.  We are there for each other through positive times and those moments that have us take a big breath and exhale.

Mandy Vorster would like to share with you the recent news of her husband Craig’s passing.  This is a time of celebration for a life beautifully lived and surrounded by loved ones.  We wish to extend our deepest condolences as a Lyndhurst Primary School community.  Mandy continues to read the supportive messages and feels the virtual support and hugs from the extended Lyndhurst family.

Where has Mrs Corcoran been visiting?

The Principal Mystery Visits posed the challenge of “

“Rank in order of 1-5, the class’ favourite celebrations.  Choose Number 4 and provide a summary of what the celebration entails”.

This task was interesting for the students to ponder as to why the Principal was interested in Number 4.  After some of the most obvious favourites including Christmas, Birthdays and Halloween, Number 4 elicited the most curiosity.

  • Prep D tallied their responses as a poster with symbols
  • Year 1F was passionate in their reason to Diwali and the beautiful festivals it includes
  • Year 2C researched Eid and provided a succinct dot point summary
  • Year 3G and 4B were colourful in their approach to New Years Eve with descriptive language
  • Year 5D were humorous in their Number 1 being the two weed term breaks, with ANZAC day being a respectful fourth favourite
  • Year 6C were engrossed by the joy of Black Friday and the sales it brings
