Science - Year 6

Special Visit - Simon Jenner

On Thursday week 5, the year 6 Science classes were treated to a special visitor organised by the family of Georgie Lynch.

Simon Jenner works for Axiom Space, which is one of the leading privatised space corporations involved in the next phase of space travel. They have the contract to replace the International Space Station in the next few years along with the contract to design the space suits that people will wear on the moon on their next visit.

All of these major space events will happen in the next decade and Simon's company will be right there among it.

He shared with the classes in a way that we all could understand, talking about life in space, how to get to space and what will be needed on the moon.  The students were very attentive and engaged with his presentation. He even brought a specialised messaged from one of the most experienced astronauts in the modern era, Michael Lopez-Alegria.  Simon commented that the questions the students asked were very good, indicating a high level of prior knowledge.

We thank Simon along with Georgie and Jade Erlandsen for making this happen.
