Scholarships
December 2024
We are proud and grateful of the work that The Challenge Team are committed to. Whilst the raising of funds for student scholarships can be seen as material, more importantly, the scholarships at Year 6 fosters within the students, the culture of applying for scholarships and fuels the aspiration that now sees many of our students receiving recognition and support with local, state, national and international scholarships later in their schooling. Please read on to see many of the scholarships that our students are shining in during their senior years.
2023/24 Scholarship Cohort
On November 28, Northern Bay College Year 8 students from across our four Junior campuses graduated. This event marked a significant stage in their learning journey at Northern Bay College with their entry into our senior secondary Goldsworthy Campus. This event also coincides with the completion of the Scholarship tenure for our 2023/24 cohort of Year 7&8 Scholarship recipients. These twenty-six students have made strong contributions to leadership and learning at their junior campuses which was shown across the awards presented at the Year 8 Awards evening. The students (listed below) have performed strongly within their pillars of Academic, Science and Technologies, Sport, Physical Education and Health and The Arts but many students have experienced success and growth beyond their scholarship areas and have promising pathways ahead of them.

The Skyline Education Foundation Australia provide intensive support for talented students from deserving backgrounds, for the last two years of their secondary education. The Skyline Program is the first of its kind in Australia, providing financial, educational, emotional and practical support for bursary recipients. The Foundation is an advocate for talented and deserving young people and partners with schools throughout Victoria to deliver the Skyline Bursary Program each year. Since their first cohort in 2006, 96% of students who graduate from the Skyline Program, have completed their VCE studies, and then transitioned to tertiary studies or the workforce.
This year, 31 deserving young students will receive scholarships through the Australian Business and Community Network (ABCN) 2024 Accelerate scholarship program.
Accelerate is a three-year scholarship for students who are exceptional yet who face significant barriers. Successful applicants receive a unique combination of one-on-one corporate mentoring support, leadership coaching and financial assistance over Years 11, 12 and their first year of tertiary studies, employment or training.
Northern Bay College received two out of the four scholarships awarded to Victoria students commencing next year.
The Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program is an academic enrichment program designed to support high-achieving secondary school students in achieving their personal best.
Successful applicants will take part in an exciting two-year program of events and activities that will expand their academic and personal horizons and set them up for success at Melbourne, and beyond.
When finishing secondary studies, they could also be offered a guaranteed place in an undergraduate degree, financial assistance to move to Melbourne, and an overseas scholarship during their studies.
We support Australian girls in Australian public high schools. Our scholarship recipients have high academic potential. They are talented and dedicated. They do not currently have access to the resources that they need to make the most of their education opportunities.
Western Chances believes in the power of education to transform lives. Western Chances scholarships are awarded to talented and motivated young people in Melbourne’s west and the City of Greater Geelong, who have been recognised by their nominators, teachers and the wider community.
We give young people in Melbourne’s west the chance to fulfil their potential and overcome barriers to success by providing scholarships, opportunity programs and ongoing support. Our scholarships support talented and motivated students who may not otherwise have an opportunity to pursue their education dreams.
