Dear BMGS Senior School Community,
As we move deeper into Term 4, there is a palpable sense of excitement and achievement within our Senior School community. The past weeks have been bustling with key milestones and activities, showcasing the commitment and enthusiasm of both students and staff.
We’re thrilled to announce that three of our talented HSC Drama students - Sienna Coleman, Ivy Downes and Leyna Hawkes - have been nominated for OnStage 2024. This is an incredible achievement that reflects their hard work, dedication, and creativity!
OnStage is the annual showcase of outstanding HSC Drama performances and individual projects, held at the Seymour Centre from Saturday 8 February to Friday 14 February 2025. This prestigious nomination is a testament not only to our students' commitment but also to the support and guidance of our wonderful Drama teachers, who have been instrumental in helping them reach this milestone.
We are thrilled to announce that our talented Design and Technology student, Jonathan McHugh, has been nominated for the prestigious SHAPE Exhibition, held in Sydney, Walsh Bay precinct in 2025! This renowned event showcases the finest student Major Design Projects (MDP) from Year 12 Design and Technology, celebrating creativity, innovation, and craftsmanship.
Jonathan's nomination is a testament to his hard work, dedication, innovation and outstanding skills. We are incredibly proud of his achievement and look forward to seeing his work displayed among the best in the field.
Congratulations, Jonathan, on this well-deserved recognition! Stay tuned for more updates as we follow his journey in the exhibition.
Please join us in congratulating them all and wishing them the best as they prepare for this exciting opportunity!
On the 11th November, our Junior and Senior School Captains, along with our talented musicians, represented Blue Mountains Grammar School with pride at the Remembrance Day service held in Wentworth Falls. Led by Reverend Zac Miles of Holy Trinity Church, the service was a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by those who served and continue to serve for our freedom.
We honour their courage, their commitment, and their legacy. Thank you to our school leaders and musicians for contributing to this meaningful tribute on behalf of our entire school community.
Congratulations to all our Stage 4 and Stage 5 students for completing their assessment blocks. Your hard work, resilience, and dedication have been commendable, setting a strong foundation as you progress in your educational journey.
Our Year 10 cohort has transitioned into an enriching and memorable post-assessment program. This week commenced with the much-anticipated Year 10 Formal, where students celebrated their collective achievements in style. The program continues with a diverse schedule, including the upcoming Year 10 Camp, various excursions, and sessions with inspiring guest speakers designed to prepare them for senior studies and life beyond school.
In Year 8, students returned from their camp full of stories and newfound confidence. The experience has strengthened friendships, fostered personal growth, and provided memories that will last a lifetime.
Looking ahead, we are excited to welcome our newest members during the Year 7 Orientation for 2025, scheduled for this week. This is a wonderful opportunity for incoming students to familiarise themselves with our school community and start building connections that will support their transition into secondary school life.
Adding to this week's highlights, we look forward to the Year 7 Odyssey Showcase, an event that captures the creativity, exploration, and hard work of our Year 7 students. This showcase is a testament to their learning experiences and the projects they have developed.
Lastly, a reminder to all that this Friday marks the prestigious Dr. Marshall Award Night. It is an occasion where we celebrate outstanding achievements and recognize students who have excelled across various disciplines. We invite families and friends to join us in honoring the hard work and dedication that epitomize the spirit of our school.
As we approach the end of the term, I encourage everyone to save the date for our final events that will close off the year on a high note:
Christmas Carols: Join us for a festive evening filled with holiday spirit and beautiful performances.
Years 7-9 Movie Night: A fun-filled night for students to relax and enjoy a movie with their peers.
Presentation Day: A significant event that marks the culmination of the year, celebrating the achievements and efforts of our students.
As always, thank you for your continued support and engagement with our school community. Your encouragement and partnership make a significant difference in the experiences and successes of our students.
